Gurnee, IL. – It’s been a busy start to 2017 for ZCenter! During the month of February, the Highland Park High School (HPHS) Charity drive has been in full swing with over 50 different fun fundraising events and activities filling the calendar.
ZCenter is honored to be named this year’s beneficiary for the HPHS Charity drive. What is truly remarkable is how the students, staff and community have embraced our cause with open arms. ZCenter recognizes how difficult the topic of sexual abuse and assault can be, particularly among adolescents and young adults.
Selecting ZCenter as the beneficiary of this year’s drive shows tremendous courage by the student body. In a letter addressed to the families of HPHS students, Principal Tom Koulentes, wrote: “I am struck by the unique opportunity our Charity Drive will offer us to have an essential, albeit often uncomfortable, community conversation about our children’s health and safety.”
As the HPHS Charity Drive wraps up this week, ZCenter thanks the dedicated members of the 2017 HPHS Charity Drive team, Josie Dees, Drew Eder, and Lisa Berghoff and look forward to joining the students and staff the closing ceremonies assembly on Friday, March 17th!
During this unprecedented February, our thoughts are already turning to spring! April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). SAAM is a special opportunity for us to use our voices to change the culture to prevent sexual violence.
Prevention requires addressing the root causes and social norms that allow sexual violence to exist. This April, we are calling on you, our supporters, to play a critical role in changing the culture. We hope you will join us for ZCenter’s Race to Zero 5K event! Bring a team, register to run or walk, or make a donation to this family friendly event! Find out ways you can support ZCenter’s efforts during the month of April.
April 23rd – 5th Annual Race to Zero 5K Run/Walk: Grab your running shoes, friends, and family and join ZCenter for our 5th Annual Race to Zero 5K at Independence Grove in Libertyville! ZCenter’s run/walk is a great opportunity to support a worthy cause. Register here or contact Rachael at RJosephsen@zcenter.org or 847-244-1187 x 121 for more information.
